What your score actually means
If you’ve never taken a home inspection course, you’re not supposed to know this material yet. A pretest is just that: pre, as in before. Before classes. Before instruction. Before the system designed to teach this stuff to you in a way you’ll actually retain.
Most people who take this sample score lower than they expected. That’s normal. That’s what the classes are for.
So take it honestly. Don’t Google answers. Don’t guess wildly. The score is only useful if it reflects what you actually know right now.
Here’s what to do with the result:
If you breezed through the test and scored high
You probably have a construction or trades background. If so, you might be better off going through a less expensive school. If you have the time, you can go in-person and be done in 4 weeks. If you work full-time, you can choose an online school with videos as their primary form of lesson delivery. You can save both time and money.
If most of it felt unfamiliar
You’re exactly who TIA was built for. You’re simply someone who has never been taught this material, and you need a school designed to actually teach it. Avoid any school that gives you four weeks of lectures; provides you videos of lectures; or, hands you a stack of books and wishes you luck.
