Keep the job you have. Train for the one you want next.
Home inspection is a licensed trade you can study around a shift, a classroom, a route, or a hospital schedule. You do not have to quit to find out if it fits.
TREC Qualifying Provider #701080-QP. Coursework built on how adults actually learn, by a licensed Texas inspector with a Master's in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech.
$500 off the PI Bundle. $400 off the REI Bundle. Offer expires December 31, 2026.
Is this you?
Same license. Six different Mondays.
This page is for people who already have a job and want a second one they can start before they leave.
Teachers
The classroom paycheck can stay while you study. Evenings, weekends, and a summer are enough for a lot of people. You already explain hard things to anxious adults.
Firefighters and Police
Keep the department job. Study on the off days. A lot of people in this work license first and decide later whether inspecting is a side book or the next full-time job.
Hospital Staff
Shifts do not line up with a classroom. The courses are online and self-paced, so you train around the schedule you already have instead of asking for a leave.
School Administrators
You already run a building, a calendar, and a stack of people who need a clear answer. Inspection is a report, a sequence, and a client — not another district initiative.
CDL and Truck Drivers
Home time is the scarce thing. The coursework waits for you. Once you are licensed, the work is local: a house, a report, and a drive across town instead of across the state.
Military and Veterans
You already know how to follow a checklist and write down what you actually saw. You can start while you still have the paycheck or the pension, and the license is yours.
Why this work
Why home inspection works as a second career
01
You do not resign to start
Enroll while you are still employed. Most students study nights and days off, then sit the exams when the practice scores are there.
02
No construction background required
Most TIA students are career-changers. The job is observation, a written report, and a clear explanation. The courses teach the systems.
03
The license is a real second engine
You are paid per inspection, not per hour on someone else’s clock. Year one is a ramp. We will not put a salary on this page that we cannot stand behind.
04
You set the days once you are licensed
Part-time beside the job you have is a real version of this work. Full-time is a later decision, after the license is in hand.
- Texas still requires the qualifying courses, two exams, a practicum, insurance, and a background check. We walk that on a call.
- What you earn depends on your market and the book you build. Matching your current pay is the honest first target, not month one.
How the System Works
Why The TIA Bulletproof System Works When Other Schools Don’t
Most home inspection schools were built by inspectors. Good inspectors. Sometimes great ones. But being great at the job is not the same as being great at teaching the job.
The TIA Bulletproof System exists because we got tired of watching smart, motivated people repeatedly fail the exams. We believe it is not because they couldn’t learn the material, but because no one had ever taught it to them the way adults actually learn.
The TIA Bulletproof System is the combination of two different tools working together.
TIA helps to build the boat. BTP helps to find any holes and plug them. On test day, everyone knows that the boat will float.
01
TIA: The School That Builds the Foundation
The Inspection Academy is the TREC-approved qualifying education side of the system. Every lesson uses adult learning theory, the science of how working-age adults actually retain information for high-stakes exams. That’s because TIA was built by Matt Warner, M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University and a licensed Texas professional inspector (TREC #24038). You don’t just watch videos. You engage, recall, and apply. By the time you’ve completed your required courses, the structure is in place.
02
BTP: The Adaptive Tool That Finds and Fixes the Gaps
Bulletproof Test Prep is the second half of the system. Once your TIA courses are complete, BTP takes over. It uses adaptive AI to analyze every practice exam you take, identify the exact domains where you’re still weak, and build a personalized study plan around them. Practice questions are scenario-based, written at the level the real exam actually tests. Application, not recognition. This is how the boat gets sealed.
03
A Measurable Finish Line, Not a Vibe
Other schools tell you when you’ve completed their course. The TIA Bulletproof System tells you when you’re ready for the exam. The standard is five full-length practice exams with scores at 75% or higher on both the NHIE (200 questions) and the Texas state exam (30 questions). When you hit that mark, you won’t be hoping you’ll pass. You will pass.
